A study suggests that if we are to keep our nervous system functioning, we need sleep. That is true because a sleepy person may not perform well in a working environment. But what happens when you suddenly develop insomnia? It worsens when the lack of sleep interferes with your quality of life. There is a reason to brighten up because you can get your sleep back with Lakeway insomnia treatment.

    What is insomnia?

This sleeping disorder makes it hard for you to fall asleep or, if you do, can’t stay sleeping. Insomnia comes with tiredness after you wake up, thus affecting your performance. You may have chronic insomnia, which may last for more than a month, or acute insomnia, which may last for a few days to weeks. There are two common types of insomnia, including:

    • Primary insomnia

This type of insomnia is not associated with any health issue or condition

    • Secondary insomnia

You may experience secondary insomnia due to a health issue, whether a mental condition like depression or a physical problem like asthma or cancer conditions. Or it may result from using substances like alcohol.

How can you tell it is insomnia?

You may experience the following signs and symptoms as a result of lack of sleep:

    • Difficulty falling asleep at the night
    • Tired and sleepy during the day
    • Difficulty focusing
    • Feeling not well-rested after sleeping at night
    • Irritability

You should see a doctor if you find it hard to perform well during the day to start an early treatment.

What may be the possible causes of insomnia?

You may develop insomnia as a result of several issues, including:

    • Stress

You may have too much worry about your work, finances, study, or health to the extent that you can’t sleep at night, thus leading to insomnia.

    • Poor sleeping habits

You may develop habits that prevent you from getting good sleep at night. These habits may include irregular sleeping routines, eating and watching TV or other screens, and participating in stimulating activities before going to bed, among other things. These may greatly affect your sleep at night.

There may be other causes of insomnia, including mental health disorders like PTSD, certain medications, or other sleep-related conditions.

    How can you prevent insomnia?

If you wish to stop having a hard time sleeping at night, you may need to practice the following habits:

    • Maintain a regular bedtime schedule and be consistent
    • Limit naps or, if possible, avoid them
    • Avoid too much intake of caffeine and alcohol
    • Stay active during the day as it helps promote a good sleep
    • Keep your bedroom comfortable

What is the treatment for insomnia?

After conducting tests, your doctor may recommend treatments to help address your sleeping issue. The treatments may consist of cognitive therapy to help you get rid of negative actions or thoughts keeping you awake at night. This therapy is much more useful and very effective than medications. Your doctor may also prescribe medications to help you fall asleep. It is important to follow your prescriptions carefully and correctly.

Sleep Cycle Center is only a call away if you want to consult or book an appointment on insomnia-related issues.
