    5 Home Remedies for Heel Pain

    If you are experiencing chronic pain in your heel, it probably results from plantar fasciitis. It is a prevalent foot injury that causes stabbing pain near your heel on the bottom of your foot. You may develop recurring problems that may require a lengthy period to recover if you neglect and don’t address heel discomfort.     If left untreated, heel pain can worsen over time and may require surgery to treat it. You can treat your heel pain using home remedies. Here are home remedies for heel pain;

    1.     Stretch and rest

    Rest is one step to recovery if the probable cause of your heel pain is strain. It is also a good idea to do regular stretching exercises. Foot workouts maintain the plantar fascia from straining and stiffening, making it more capable of bearing your weight once you are up and moving.

    1.     Use a cold compress

    Acute inflammatory heel tissue may be relieved with cold treatment. You may apply ice covered in a cloth on your heel to relieve pain. You might use a cold compression pack to keep the ice pack in place. Many drugstores sell them as cold foot wraps or gel packs. They are frozen before being placed around the foot and ankle.     1.     Wear comfortable shoes

    Well-fitting and comfortable shoes may help reduce the amount of pressure on your heel spur and ease your heel pain. When shopping for a comfortable shoe to wear with heel pain, keep the following in mind:

    • Sturdy heel support: Your shoe’s back “counter” should be firm to support your heel and keep your foot from sliding inward or outward.
    • Moderate flexibility: A shoe should never be foldable since it is too simple to bend. Therefore, your shoe should have a reasonable bend with resistance when your foot is twisted or bent.
    • Slightly elevated heel: A shoe with a slightly lifted heel (no more than one inch) will assist relieve pressure on your hurting heel.
    1.     Use orthotics

    If you have high arches, your doctor may suggest foot pads or orthotic shoe inserts to assist spreads your weight more evenly. You may buy them ready-made at most drugstores or have them custom-made for your feet by your doctor. You may be able to stop using them after a few months.

    1.     Massage

    To relieve the discomfort in your heels, you may use easy massage methods. Massage your heels and arches using your thumbs, starting from the balls of your foot to your heel. You may also massage your arches using a golf ball. Place your foot on the golf ball and roll the golf ball beneath your arches while holding on to something sturdy.

    Contact your doctor if your heel pain does not respond to home remedies. They may take x-rays or conduct tests to identify the reasons for your heel pain.
